While it is nice and all for Apple to drop the price of its Apple TV set-top box, there is some bad news over at the iPhone 6 side. If you think the iPhone 6 is already overpriced, it is about to get even pricier.
The “bigger” iPhone 6 now starts at RM2,549 for the 16GB model, a RM150 increase. Increase the storage to 64GB or 128GB, and you’ll have to increase your cash output RM200 more than previously.
The “bigger than bigger” iPhone 6 Plus is already rather hefty physically and financially, starting at RM2,749, but it is now RM200 more. The same applies to the 64GB and 128GB variants.
Here are the new prices, with the old ones crossed out:

64GB: RM3,149 RM3,349

If that’s not enough, notice that even the iPhone 5s’ prices have went up. Sure, the prices have dropped since the iPhone 6 launch last year, but the iPhone 5s surged back to be RM150 more expensive now. The iPhone 5c remains, unloved, at RM1,499.
The price increases don’t seem to be caused by Malaysia’s Goods & Services Tax (GST), but probably due to the weak ringgit and the current exchange rate. GST is also not inclusive, so when the implementation begins, expect another price increase, but this time it will apply to more Apple products, and other electronics from other companies too.
