Free iflix with Digi

In a continuous effort to get more viewers hooked to its video on-demand streaming service, iflix announced yet another partnership with Digi to offer the telco’s (postpaid) subscribers a 12-month access to iflix’s entire video catalog (worth RM96), from January 26th 2016 onwards. The two companies were no strangers for Digi has been offering its customers an additional month of free trial to iflix since September 2015, plus an additional 1GB monthly data quota should they proceed to subscribe once the trial ends. This new deal is not dissimilar to iflix’s other deal with Telekom Malaysia (TM) where the ISP’s UniFi subscribers also got a 12-month free access to stream iflix, but Digi’s deal also have a few caveats as always.

The 12-month free access to iflix is only available to Digi customers when they sign up or upgrade to Digi SmartPlan 65 and above. SmartPlan 65 either gives you 3GB data and unlimited calls, or 5GB data and only 200 minutes of calls. Other higher-tier plans are SmartPlan 78, 98, and 148; all of which you can learn more here: http://new.digi.com.my/postpaid-plans.

Similar to how the free iflix works on UniFi, once you have an “eligible” Digi plan, you don’t even need an iflix account; just launch iflix on a Digi network and you’re ready to roll. Digi said they have an “improved backend integration” between itself and iflix, and could automatically recognize eligible Digi customers through the network and grants access accordingly.

Another thing to highlight would be how Digi’s selling this perk; it said that there are limited passes available for this free iflix deal, but did not state as to how many passes are there to begin with.

For those of you Digi subscribers who are not interested in “upgrading” your plans to SmartPlan 65 and above, the previous Digi-iflix deal still stands — when you sign up to iflix through Digi’s network, instead of a 30-day free trial, you’ll get 60 days. Later, when you’re ready to subscribe to iflix, Digi is also offering carrier billing for folks without credit or debit cards. And finally, those who got an iflix subscription through Digi will also get additional 1GB of data monthly, until March 31st 2016.

Christian Thrane, Digi’s Chief Marketing Officer, commented, “Digi is the first mobile telco operator to offer 12 months access to iflix in Malaysia at no additional costs. We are always looking for new ways to bring added value to customers, and strategic partnership like ours with iflix is one example how we innovate to bring the best digital services to the market. We have now simplified further how customers can enjoy the content that inspires them. With Digi’s widest 4G LTE network, we have the best platform for them to take advantage of this offer.”

Azran Osman-Rani, iflix Group COO and iflix Malaysia CEO, said, “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with Digi, Malaysia’s leading telecommunications provider. With our new seamless sign-up process and Digi’s extensive 4G LTE coverage, Digi subscribers can now enjoy uninterrupted and unlimited access to thousands of their favorite TV shows and movies, all available on iflix. This latest deepening of our partnership with Digi, demonstrates, once again our commitment to bring the best in entertainment content to Malaysian audiences across the country.”
