Creative types take note, Viber has partnered with Talenthouse to embark on a worldwide hunt for their next sticker artist. Both companies are inviting visual artists, illustrators, and designers from around the world to design a new Sticky Fingers character/mascot which will then be made into a Viber sticker.
Stickers are an important part of the messaging experience for 516 million Viber users around the world. Viber reported that just last year, 500 million sticker packs were downloaded from the built in Sticker Market, and more than 22 billion stickers were exchanged between users. These stickers are used to express or share an emotion, a reaction, a statement, or just as a way to say ‘hi’ to friends or family members.
The Sticky Finger mascot search is the first in a series of briefs that will be conducted by Viber. Contestants are required to submit sketches of an original character and the panel of judges, which includes Erez Shocher (Creative Director) and Alon Boroda (Creative Manager of Viber’s Sticker Department), will pick 10 finalists for the first round of Open Review. The selected contestants will each get to take home a US$ 1,000 prize money. For the next and final round, the judges will pick a sole winner who then gets to travel to Viber Design Studio to work with the creative team there. The team will help to finalise the submitted character, and then bring it to life in its very own sticker pack. The pack will be released into Viber’s sticker market for users worldwide to buy and use, and the revenue will then be shared with the winner. Viber will also give away US$ 500 to the participant with the most shared submission on social networks.
For those interested, please pay a visit to the Sticky Fingers page for terms & conditions, contest rules, and to upload artwork. The closing date for submission is 15th April at 10 AM GMT, after which the Open Review will immediately start. The Finalist and the Most Shared Artist will be selected on the 6th of May, 2015.
